Introduction
The shortage of a sufficient, reliable and relevant quantity of archival sources on the Azerbaijani nation’s history and culture has been lamented for a long time. While the situation is still in no way comparable to other nations of historical and cultural research, whether one looks at western countries or other regions of the Islamic World, the last decades have shown that much more documents have survived. A large number of archival material continues to be published and more and more private and public collections are now accessible.
